Dorian was initially produced by MB Artists as a staged reading at
"Arcade" in Culver City, Los Angeles, Spring of 1999. A promotional CD cast
recording was compiled using the "Arcade" cast, which included: Robert Cuccioli,
Armelia McQueen, and LaTonya Holmes. In the fall of 1999 a more fully realized
presentation was produced in association with Doug Hutchinson and Rocklee Productions in
the John Bradley Theatre of The Los Angeles Theatre Center. "Dorian" was
conceived and directed by James J. Mellon with a book by Mr. Mellon and Duane Poole, music
and lyrics by Mellon and Scott DeTurk. The set and lighting design was by Robert L. Smith
with costumes byScott A. Lane.
In the spring of 2001 a staged reading was presented at The Lambs Theatre in New York
City. The reading again starred Robert Cuccioli as Henry Lord, Armelia McQueen as Mama
Vane and LaTanya Holmes as Celia Vane. New to the cast was Max von Essen as Dorian Gray
and Beth Leavel as Lally Lord. This same cast performed an encore reading at the Raw Space
in New York City, summer of 200. The World Premiere at the Denver Center for the
Performing Arts Buell Theatre on September 17, 2002.
